I have painted, dabbled in art for years. I have been fortunate enough to have retired from a "practical" profession where I was able to maintain some creativity but now for the past 10+ years I have time to dedicate + continue to find my footing...the work is never finished. Always exploring. So..I've been experimenting with the abstract renderings of nature in oil, gouache, watercolor, & monotype printing using an etching press with playful flourishes of collage throughout all of my work. Each season I look forward to the unknown, the unusual while attempting to not take my self and art too seriously-inspired by John Baldisari in his philisophy( conceptual artist) and Deibenkorn's original artistic sense.
p.s. I am also a silversmith and while I do not do so much in that area now of 3-D i do find its influence in 2D. Incidentally I have chosen to retreat from this endeavor because I can no longer guarantee my source for stones, metal re: worker safety, fair trade, etc. sadly, it is the way of the world in areas where there is much instability. Life can only get better.- is my hope for all.
